Assam Cancer Care Foundation organises 'orientation programme on palliative care' at the Civil Hospital, Diphu

Diphu: Assam Cancer Care Foundation (ACCF) organised an 'orientation programme on palliative care' on November 25-26, 2019, at the Civil Hospital, Diphu. The workshop is aimed to sensitise the community health officers, auxiliary nurses and midwifes, and ASHA workers on palliative care so that they can further assist patients at the community level.

The 'orientation programme on palliative care' organised at the Civil Hospital, Diphu, saw enthusiastic audience participation

The inaugural programme of the two-day workshop was graced by dignitaries from Karbi Anglong Autonomous Council — Khonsing Rongpi, Executive Member, Health; Sanjeeb KR Das, Principal Secretary; Bidya Sing Teron, Medical Board Chairman; and Dr Kareng Rongpipi, Joint Director, Health Service.

Dr Sanghamitra, Lead, Palliative Care, at ACCF, emphasised the importance and need of such workshops and how this would help in identifying patients in remote areas.

Khonsing Rongpi, in his speech, encouraged all the participants to sincerely learn and serve the community at the micro level and help patients avail the cancer care facilities that is expected to be soon operational in the region.
