Plantation drive at Kokrajhar
ssam Cancer Care Foundation (ACCF)
observed World Environment Day on 5 June
A2026, across all its cancer care centres
through plantation drives and awareness initiatives,
reaffirming its commitment to environmental
sustainability and healthier communities.
As part of the statewide observance, Tezpur
Cancer Centre (TCC) organised a plantation
drive to enhance green cover. The initiative saw
enthusiastic participation from hospital staff, who
collectively donated 58 saplings. Leading the
effort, Medical Superintendent of TCC Dr (Maj.) D.
J. Borah contributed 475 saplings, including Nahar,
Bokul, Kanchan, Krishnachura, Radhachura, Plum,
Apple, Jamun, Jackfruit, Segun and Mahogany,
inspiring everyone to take a step towards a greener
future.
The plantation drive reinforced the message that
a clean and healthy environment plays a vital role
in reducing health risks while highlighting the close
link between environmental conservation and
community well-being.
Inspired by the words of renowned Assamese singer
Zubeen Garg - “Plant a tree in my name - that will
live longer than flowers or gamosas.”- the saplings
were planted as a tribute to nature and in honour of
his enduring love for trees. Through this initiative,
